It's that time of year again. Frozen pipe time. Here are a few pointers that can help to prevent your pipes from freezing.
(1) Make sure all hoses are disconnected from outdoor hose bibs, water is shut off to hose bibs, and faucets have been drained.
(2) Keep garage doors closed, and interior doors opened.
(3) If you have plumbing running along an exterior wall, open cabinets where possible to allow heat to get to pipes (remember to remove anything that kids and pets shouldn't have access to).
(4) Let the cold water drip from a faucet served by the exposed pipes to keep the water moving.
(5) Set your thermostat to at least 55 degrees when you are not home.
(6) Insulate problem pipes, and seal up cracks and holes.
It's always a good idea to know where your shut off valve is located in your home, and to know how to shut it off, in case of emergency. If you do find yourself with a frozen pipe, give us a call at (262) 251-4151. We're happy to help.๐ฅถ
