“The peace of mind gives me a sense of comfort that I didn’t have before I installed Ting.”

When Ting detected a fire hazard in one of Jay’s properties in Oregon, our Fire Safety Team helped narrow it down to arcing in one of his heat pumps and facilitated necessary repairs with an electrician.

Meet Nick, who we featured earlier last year and has since become our very first Senior Fire Safety Engineer! 🔥 Nick has been with Ting for a few years and in becoming our first senior-level Fire Safety Engineer, he exemplifies the kind of dedication and expertise we're known for. He recently shared with us:

"There is a high level of care and attention to detail behind everything we do. Teams across our company work together with a shared goal: delivering meaningful value to Ting users and helping protect their homes and families."

Thank you for continuing to help keep families safe from electrical fires, Nick!

How long have you been using that phone charger? 🔌📱

Phone chargers go through a lot of bending, twisting, and daily wear. Over time, that damage can expose wires or weaken the connection, increasing the risk of sparking a fire. Before you plug in tonight, take a quick look for:

⚠️ Frayed or exposed wires
⚠️ Cracks near the connector or plug
⚠️ Bent prongs or loose connections

If you spot any of these signs, it’s time to replace the charger (not repair it with tape!)

Check out what was hiding behind an everyday home appliance in a Ting customer's home.

Ting detected arcing signals that were eventually traced to the laundry room. What was hidden behind the dryer was significant: a charred wall, burnt wiring, and damage to the plug itself.

Most of us don’t think twice about the appliances that are part of our weekly routines. But sometimes, the electrical connections behind them are where hazards are developing completely out of sight.

An old forgotten nightlight could have caused a catastrophic fire.

After receiving a free Ting sensor through her State Farm homeowners insurance, Kimberly got a fire hazard alert. One of our Fire Safety Engineers helped guide her through finding the problem, which turned out to be an old lava lamp nightlight in one of her bedrooms that had started to leak.

"This nightlight was leaking and we did not know. If it weren't for Ting we could have had a fire in our house. I have told my family and friends. Please look into getting it, Ting is worth more than gold." — Kimberly S, Colorado
