Before you plant, keep these tips in mind:

✔️ Give large shade trees plenty of room—typically 20–50 feet from your home—to protect your foundation and allow for healthy growth.
✔️ Avoid planting too close to fences to prevent future root and branch issues.
✔️ Plan for the tree’s mature size, not the size it is today.
✔️ Prune as needed to encourage healthy structure and keep branches away from your home.
✔️ Be sure to check your HOA guidelines and local regulations before planting.
