A structural evaluation is about more than identifying what is visible.

Our engineers look at the conditions on site, evaluate how the structure is performing, identify potential contributing factors, and develop recommendations that provide a practical path forward.

From the initial visit to the final solution, the goal is to give our clients the clarity they need to make informed decisions.

Opening up a floor plan can completely transform a space, but before that wall comes down, it is important to know what it is supporting.
A load-bearing wall may be carrying weight from floors, roofing, or other portions of the structure. Removing it without the right plan can create much larger structural problems.

Foundation movement is rarely caused by just one thing.

Changes in soil moisture, drainage, compaction, structural loads, and surrounding site conditions can all influence how a foundation performs over time.
The important part is identifying what is actually causing the movement before deciding how to address it.

Some of the best structural solutions happen before there’s ever a problem to solve.

When engineers, architects, designers, and builders collaborate early, there’s more opportunity to evaluate options, simplify difficult details, avoid unnecessary redesign, and make sure the structure supports the architectural vision from the beginning.

Engineering shouldn’t just be another box to check.

It should be part of the conversation.

Bring Tyndall into your next project early. Call 919.773.1200 to connect with our team.

Where architecture + engineering meet.

Custom residential projects often push beyond conventional layouts, which means the structure has to work just as hard as the design.

For the Wheats Residence, our team helped develop the structural solutions needed to support the architectural vision while keeping performance, constructability, and long-term integrity at the forefront.

That collaboration is one of our favorite parts of what we do.

Have a custom residential project in the works? Call Tyndall at 919.773.1200 to start the conversation.

Not every structural concern starts with a major failure.

Sometimes it’s a crack that keeps growing. A floor that suddenly feels different. A renovation that requires removing a wall. Or simply a question about whether an existing structure can support something new.

Five times you should consider calling a structural engineer:

You notice significant cracks or movement
You’re removing or modifying walls
You’re planning an addition or major renovation
You see sagging, shifting, rot, or structural deterioration
You’re changing how an existing structure will be used

When in doubt, getting an experienced opinion early can provide clarity before a small concern becomes a bigger one.

Seeing one of these signs? Call Tyndall for an expert opinion today at 919.773.1200.

Renovating an existing commercial building?

What looks simple on paper can become much more complicated once walls start moving, openings are added, equipment changes, or existing structural conditions are uncovered.

A structural engineer can help evaluate what’s already there, determine how proposed changes affect the structure, and develop solutions that support the new use of the space.

The earlier those questions are answered, the fewer surprises there tend to be later.

Planning a commercial renovation? Call Tyndall at 919.773.1200 and bring our team into the conversation early.
