Our team had a great time welcoming families to the construction equipment booth during the recent Black & Veatch Take A Child to Work Day. Kids got up close with the equipment and learned how heavy machinery is operated safely. A great reminder that building a strong safety culture starts early as we close out Construction Safety Week!

Recently, several of our leaders visited our crews to highlight strong safety performance, formally recognizing two team members:
🔹Chance Bailey – Recently promoted to foreman, Chance developed a detailed plan for electrical work that minimized disruption while taking the safest approach possible. His preparation and leadership set a strong example.
🔹Bruce Bairfield– A civil superintendent who consistently goes above and beyond to keep his crew and others safe. Bruce’s proactive mindset and commitment to safety make a real difference every day.

While we singled out these two exemplary professionals, working safe is everybody's job. Our safety culture is built through trust, accountability and teams that have each other’s backs, one day at a time.

Skilled. Trained. Ready to take the next step.

This National Apprenticeship Week, we are proud to celebrate the apprentices across our company, especially the first graduates of our U.S. Department of Labor‑approved apprenticeship programs.

Our apprenticeships are offered in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and Utah, with plans to expand. Programs span electrical, solar, construction craft labor and equipment operation. Each two‑ or four‑year program combines 2,000 hours of on‑the‑job learning with 144 paid classroom hours.

In the field, apprentices learn more than how to do the work. They learn why it matters, how safety guides every decision and how education and experience come together to support long‑term career growth.

Apprenticeship is a commitment, but it opens doors. Our goal is to ensure every apprentice is prepared to advance in their careers with confidence and capability.

We’re excited to share that the Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) Authority has selected us to complete upgrades to the Murphree Water Treatment Plant in Gainesville. The plant upgrades will increase water storage, reduce operational issues, and meet Florida DEP requirements by 2032.

Being selected for this project is a testament to the strength of our people, our collaborative approach, and the depth of experience we bring to complex water infrastructure projects. This opportunity reinforces the value of true integration between Design, Construction, and Operations — delivering solutions that are practical, innovative, and built with the community in mind. Thank you to Gainesville Regional Utilities for the opportunity and for the confidence in our team.
