The exterior is almost finished on this flip and it already looks a thousand times better—passed inspection with flying colors. Investors originally hired another crew to tackle this job, which we had to be brought in to redo ALL their work and get it back on schedule. Our crews exceeded expectations and formed new relationships.

What’s underneath the shingles is just as important. After making the necessary repairs to the valleys, replacing the rotten decking, and fixing the sagging rafters the roof is ready for the underlayment. For this roof we did Ice/water barrier on the eaves, valleys, 3’ up the rakes, and on the entire back slope. We then cover with double layer of underlayment before the first shingle is layed. We build roof systems to last a lifetime.

First time using Owens Corning Deck Defense underlayment and it won’t be the last. It’s noticeably thicker than anything we’ve used before—very good in low slope applications. Also, very good grip—feels like we had grip tape on the roof, so good for steep pitches too. Anything 4/12 and lower gets ice and water barrier and double layer of underlayment. For all my contractors and roofers out there what do you do? Comment below.
