Cooling and humidity control are not the same problem.

A rooftop unit can satisfy the space temperature setpoint while still allowing indoor humidity to rise under certain conditions.

When the engineering department at NTD reviews submittals for school projects, the review goes beyond the equipment schedule. Leaving-air temperature, the controls sequence, and—where appropriate for the application—the hot-gas reheat strategy can all affect how the building performs after it is occupied.

That review happens before equipment reaches the field for a reason. The earlier the team sees a gap between the design intent and the equipment being submitted, the more room there is to resolve it before it becomes an installation or operating issue.

The technical question is not only, “Will it cool?” It is, “Will the complete system manage the conditions the building will actually see?”

Closeout doesn’t get much hype, but it says a lot about a contractor.

The real test isn’t just completing the installation. It’s how well a contractor carries that discipline through documentation, punch lists, and final handoff.

At NTD, closeout starts long before the final week. From submittals and equipment information to warranties, O&Ms, as-builts, and required project records, we keep documentation moving throughout the project.

Because finishing strong means more than completing the work.

It means leaving the GC with an organized project they can confidently turn over to the owner.

When the scope changes, the schedule still matters.

NTD is widely known for K-12 work. But the same discipline that keeps a school project moving toward a fixed opening date also matters on complex commercial and industrial projects.

On a recent industrial design-build project, the initial mechanical narrative became significantly more complex as the team gained a deeper understanding of how each area of the facility would operate. NTD’s engineering, estimating, drafting, project management, and field planning teams had to stay closely connected—sharing information, challenging assumptions, and continuously adjusting the design as new details emerged without losing sight of the schedule.

Reliability does not mean a project never changes. It means the team can absorb new information, communicate clearly, make responsible decisions, and keep the work moving.

That is the kind of complexity NTD is built to handle, whether the project is a school, a commercial facility, or an industrial environment.

Elizabeth Parker (“Parker”) joined NTD with a background in project coordination and operations leadership. What stood out to her wasn't just the role - it was the people, the energy, and the team environment. She saw a group of people building something together, and she wanted to be a part of it.

It happened before the sun came up—packing lunches, filling water jugs, getting kids ready for school, making sure everyone had what they needed, and sending someone out the door for another long day.

While our field teams were working hard to keep projects moving, someone was often working just as hard to keep everything else moving.

A spouse. A partner. A parent. A grandparent. A relative. A friend. A neighbor.
To the crew behind the crew: thank you.

You may never step onto one of our jobsites. You may never wear an NTD hard hat. But your support was there—in every early morning, every long day, every late night, and every project our teams helped bring across the finish line.
