Well, it’s a balmy 95° out here today… you know, perfect weather to rip someone’s entire AC system apart. 😅

We rolled up at 5am to get after this double ducted heat pump swap-out, because apparently we love a challenge (and hate sleep 😴). Good news though — the first unit will be up and running by 1:30, so cold air is officially on the way! ❄️

By Friday these folks will be living in glorious, ice-cold comfort. The crew’s sweating buckets so you don’t have to. You’re welcome. 😂

We just finished up a job in Gardner: a new central AC and heating system in a local mechanic shop, done in one day. Price was $4,000, electrical permits included.

No AC Call ? But the Real Problem Was Hiding Inside

We got a call this week from a customer with no AC. When our technician pulled up and stepped closer to the unit, he already feared the worst that smell was all too familiar.

Sure enough, once he pulled the service cover off, the bad news was confirmed. Mice had nested inside the unit and chewed clean through the wiring. After testing, the compressor came back as a bad compressor with an open circuit.

What does that mean? An open circuit means the electrical path inside the motor is completely broken. It often happens when chewed or damaged wires cause the compressor to overheat or short out exactly what we found here.

This was a 25-year-old R22 system, so rather than pour money into an aging unit, the customer made a smart move. They’ll be replacing it within the next 2 weeks with a brand new Bosch heat pump financed at 0% interest for 5 years, that also gives them a backup heating source for the colder months.
