FIRE CLEAN UP INFO
PHASE 1 (Started January 2025)
After EPA cleanup crew completes removing hazardous materials from a property, a completion sign is placed on site.
The EPA will also update their website each day to show their Phase 1 progress in the affected areas: https://www.epa.gov/ca/2025-california-wildfires .
Prior to PHASE 2
Homeowners Should Obtain a Clearance Certificate for the property.
You can OPT IN for the Army Corp to do the site clean up for Free...
OR
You can OPT OUT of Phase 2 you will need:
a ROE Form (Right of Entry FORM) before any clean up can.
The site to be Tested for ASBESTOS. If it test positive for Asbestos then you will need an Abatement Contractor to perform the Clean Up.
If it Tests Negative for Asbestos you can hire a Licensed Contractor to Clean Up the Site. Pacific Palisades does not require a permit for the debris clean up WHEN THE SITE FALLS UNDER Very "SPECIFIC PERAMETERS"

A demolition permit is required for the removal of the damaged building, if the building footprint or pad slope is steeper than 1 vertical to 5 horizontal (20% slope).
In all cases, deep foundations, piles, grade beams, stepped footings and retaining walls shall not be removed, unless a permit has been obtained from the Department of Building and Safety to ensure the stability of the site.
