A few days ago, we shared a video of Jeff building these handrails in the shop.

Today, they’re installed and ready for their most important job—helping keep our loved ones ( and us) safe!

Crafted from walnut and designed by Jeff with integrated lighting, they really added warmth and character to our stairway.

Some projects have a unique story.

A client reached out wanting a special entry bench built for his wife after her father passed away. He even provided the drawings for his vision. He had been a woodworker himself and had been saving walnut and oak for years — some of it even came from a tree on her grandfather’s land.

What started as rough boards with decades of history became something their family can see and use every day.

There’s something meaningful about taking wood that already carries memories and turning it into a piece that will keep being part of the family story.

We’re incredibly honored when people trust us with projects like this.

Hi there!
There’s just something special about a lake house… it’s where everyone gathers ❤️

Lately we’ve been building pieces for families around Table Rock that are meant to be used, enjoyed, and passed down — from custom bunk beds for grandkids and guests, to statement pieces like this chess table, dresser, to vent hoods that become the centerpiece of the kitchen.

We’re a local husband & wife team (Mertz Wood Studio), and every piece is built by hand right here — no shortcuts, just solid wood and a lot of care.
