Feeling VERY Friday … WHO ELSE NEEDS A SIP?
This high end wine cellar was installed on the lower level of a Georgetown brownstone that is over 200 years old. Replacing what was formerly the home's main kitchen and dining space, this room was built back into the home's backyard sub-dermal footprint.

This space is cozy, beautiful & functional. & designed an incredible bottom level and this wine cellar was truly the icing on the cake✨

We had the absolute pleasure of sneaking away for a quick visit to The Highlander House in Highlands, NC a few weeks ago- and it did not disappoint✨

Built in 1885—reportedly for a retired sea captain from Charleston, South Carolina—the clapboard mountain farmhouse maintains many of the period architectural details such as the original wood flooring and exposed timber framing, but there’s no lack of modern amenities or contemporary finishes. -

If you are considering a big home renovation in 2023, you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed. I always tell clients to start with asking themselves questions about their lifestyle, goals, and uses for space.

A few examples are:
1- How do you want your indoor and outdoor living spaces to coexist?
2- Where do you find inspiration? How do you want that to be reflected in your home?
3- Are there any special needs (pets, children, older adults) that you need to accommodate in the plans?

This reflective step in the process is a critical one - and should be the very first step before working on a timeline or design details.

Old homes... we love them & their quirky charm // This 1930's single family home owner wanted to preserve the initial design integrity of the 959 sq ft space. That included restoring arched windows and vintage crown molding along with reinforcing load-bearing beams that were keeping the beautifully vaulted ceilings structurally intact.

Yes, it's a small space but with simple design decisions the impact is huge. This powder room's "wow factor," to us, is the new white pine hardwood floors that match the flooring through the rest of the home. New hardware compliment the classic podium sink & new commode: the gold rimmed mirror & gold wall-mounted vanity lights make this powder room the perfect modern take on classic design.

What are your thoughts on this ultra light/white kitchen?
We love a monochromatic design scheme; all white is no different! We also get when clients stray away from it. Would there be anything you'd change about this all-white design scheme? Let us know in the comments below!! ⬇️
Perhaps darker stained hardwoods or a more noticeable backsplash? A concrete or butcher block island? Even changing up the look of the hood or adding floating shelves where the sconces are... the possibilities are endless!

Do you have a small bathroom blueprint? Are you looking to maximize your space and it's functionality? This will help contain spillage and spray aka prevent water damage while looking schematically in place.

A modern take on adobe homes on the South West🌵🏜 This living room fire place gives the illusion of a classic adobe-style construct yet was fashioned using wood frames & plasterboard. Stucco is then used as a finish to replicate the smooth cool walls of a Pueblo-style building.

**RESTORATION** Let’s talk about it! •• Bringing this log cabin from 1840 into 2020 as a modern family home while retaining its inherent charm was truly a labor of love••

••Shown here is one of the main floor living spaces with fully restored original log cabin walls & fireplace. The process of was used to bring these walls back to life. Chinking is a semi-flexible sealant that is used to seal the joints of a log structures. Nowadays, this substance is made of acrylic elastic compound that adheres to the wooden logs. The elasticity of the chinking provides the ability for the logs to settle as they expand and contract with the atmospheric changes of each season••
•• The process of restoring antique, aged, and historic spaces can be lengthy and often times costly. Construction & design trends of yesteryear take skill & understanding to master on top of time & patience ... but when we get it right it’s an ABSOLUTE thing of beauty••

An en suite fit for a zen king or wueen✌🏼👑 So much of this zen vibe is made up by the incredible indoor foliage. However, the back bone of this perfectly curated space is awesome design: the loft ceiling with pine beams, the matching oversized pine windows, the quarts tub, classic hardware, and the stone flooring. Take away the indoor jungle and you still have a fantastic design foundation that makes this space wonderful. It didnt suck one bit taking a soak in that tub✨🤭
