It’s been a while since we updated everyone on the progress on MD 337, which is ongoing, and we can’t wait to show you the finished project!
The purpose of this intersection improvement project on the MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) at MD 337 (Suitland Parkway) interchange (PG6185116) is to construct a new diamond interchange to accommodate increased traffic volumes throughout this corridor. The development of surrounding areas has led to widespread traffic growth, resulting in problematic congestion during peak travel hours.
The scope of work for this project includes:
• realigning the MD 4 access road and Armstrong Lane,
• reconstructing on- and off-ramps to Joint Base Andrews,
• adding a new shared-use path on the Suitland Parkway bridge,
• constructing a new signalized intersection at Presidential Parkway and Central Park Drive and
• constructing a new two-lane ramp over MD 4, providing a direct connection between northbound MD 4 and westbound Suitland Parkway.
The work will increase roadway capacity to meet existing demands, address safety concerns and provide room for future traffic growth.
Work continues, but today we’re sharing a rendering of what the interchange will look like once work is completed. We’re looking forward to improved traffic for our community once the project is complete!
