It's exciting to see the construction progress of this Arlington home. The roof geometry was carefully designed to bring the scale of the three stories in line with the neighborhood, and artfully disguise a side setback required by zoning at the upper levels of the home.

Working with an existing slab-on-grade, careful planning allows for the attic to be used for utilities, storage, and extra family space, instead of sacrificing valuable real estate on the first and second floors.

Following a collaborative work session yesterday for the bold gable framing, an updated take on a Victorian cottage, the house will very soon start looking like the renderings prepared during design.

This kitchen addition in Herndon, Virginia made a world of difference to what was previously a cramped and dark space, and an interior designer can really bring expanded space to life. It was a joy to work on this project with Monika Martin at Zigzag Studio Design.

Is there anything more satisfying than before and after photos???

I popped by this project in Gaithersburg today as they're wrapping up the finishing touches and waiting for the last few pieces of furniture. We made this space feel brighter and more spacious while working around a bearing wall and within the existing footprint.

It doesn't even look like the same house!
