02/19/21 11:30 AM LOCAL AND STATEWIDE DISASTER DECLARATION – DAMAGE SURVEY REQUESTED

Governor Abbott requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration prior to the winter storm disaster on February 12, 2021. The disaster declaration was approved on February, 14, 2021 which ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local response efforts resulting from the winter storm. In order to access state and federal resources, the City of Gainesville declared a local state of disaster on February 15, 2021.There is a statewide effort to collect damage assessment data for this unprecedented event to demonstrate the total impact of individuals locally and statewide. The City of Gainesville Emergency Management is urging individuals and businesses profits to take a few moments to complete the damage assessment self-survey using the attached link or QR code as soon as damage is known. The state of Texas must meet the financial threshold for certain federal funding to become available, which may include assistance for individuals, businesses, non-profits or agricultural. The Governor encouraged keeping receipts for any damage repairs related to the winter storm in the event that the financial thresholds are met and we become eligible for federal funding. https://arcg.is/uOrOb
