Anytime we use test instruments, we need to understand what we’re measuring. Some equipment comes with multiple test sensors or points, like a dual-port manometer or a voltmeter. These measure differentials between two points.

When you use a temperature clamp or anything that only measures a single point, you’re measuring accuracy against a zero point. In the case of temperature, that would be zero degrees. In any case, everything is relative to something else.
