Hail and wind blown debris on a claim in Reynoldsburg yesterday. We found damage to the siding, awning, gutters AND the roof.

There have also been many cases where a roof has been replaced in the recent past. But where we have found hail damage to other facets of the home that were seemingly missed.

It is unfortunately more than just the shingles that can be damaged by this seasons weather events.

We take everything into account when performing an inspection for our homeowners.

Metal Roof Mondays! Here we have an (M panel) installed over battons.

It is available in a variety of colors but black is by far what is most commonly requested.
We think it made a great addition to an already beautiful home!

BUT we love putting on a beautiful metal roof!

It seems to me the farther we get out in the country, the more often the request is presented to us. (We are still glad to do in COLUMBUS)

These pictures represent the shingle an Insurance carrier suggested we use to repair recess storm damage.

Ohio is not a matching state. However it is required to be “reasonable in appearance” per Department of Insurance guidelines.

These terms are noticeably vague and open to interpretation. This is why having the right roofing contractor is so important these days in pursuing coverage for a claim.

As they say perspective is everything. And I think we have the right perspective on this one. That is NOT reasonable in appearance.

Hail yes! We love working with Gahanna area homeowners.

Assisting them in restoreing their property to pre-loss conditions. Following the several recent hail and wind storms that occurred in the area.

In the second to last picture you can see lighter areas on the shingle surface. This is because hail naturally (cleans) the shingle of algae/debris during impact.
It is called spatter.

And it can be one of the more visible pieces of evidence that a storm recently occurred. And also very valuable in assessing insurance liability, which needs to be within a certain window of time. Typically 6 months to 1 year from the date or the weather event.

Storm damage from the recent wind on July 20th.
We have seen hail damage as well to the soft metals and vinyl siding. This event occurred in June.

Both storms are still being covered by insurance.

During the inspection it was also noted that spaced decking was used during the last roofing replacement. This will need to be addressed by the insurance company and will not be an additional cost to the homeowner. But will provide additional strength when installing the new roof. And bring the property up to code

Here are a few photos from recent repairs we’ve done.
Not all storm damage requires a full roof replacement.  We will always advocate for the homeowners and their best interest or wishes. 

-In the first instance it was only the ridge shingles that were compromised, an easy replacement.
- The second instance was a roof that had been replaced a few years ago. And the homeowner wanted what was missing replaced. She was not interested in dealing with the insurance company again.

Sometimes, after a thorough roof inspection, we will find additional damages that were not clearly visible from the ground.
We then would suggest contacting the insurance provider. In both of these instances that was not the case.
