Widespread Soaker Is Underway!!

Double digit rainfall totals now around Jacksboro.

DFW Airport officially first hour rainfall 1.56” is more rain in one hour than the last 3 months as of 9am Thursday. Heavy rain moving deeper into the metroplex.

Marginal Severe Storms & Heavy Rain Thursday…

The pattern change you’ve been waiting for is on the way. One last day in the 90s topping out around 95 this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. The record setting September will shattered all records. Average ends up being 98 degrees for the entire month. That is incredible for DFW

After 6pm all eyes will be out West with scattered storms approaching the I-35 Corridor. Storm motion will become parallel to the surface boundary creating a favorable setup for repeated development and training thunderstorms into the overnight.

Thursday A nearly stationary Southwest to Northeast frontal zone will be over North Texas. The atmosphere is loaded with precipitation water content value over 2” per hour at near record levels for October. This will support very heavy rain and some some stronger thunderstorms. A few will likely become marginal severe with gusty winds. This is mainly a heavy rain event with flash flooding concerns with the dry soil not being able to soak in fast enough.

Flood watch Wednesday 4pm to Friday with widespread 2 to 4” expected with isolated 5 to 7” total through Friday across North & Central Texas.

Saturday another round of scattered storms and pockets of heavy rain with overall 60% coverage adding to the week total.

Sunday Isolated showers with 30% coverage.

By Sunday some isolated totals may approach double digits. A lot of rain is coming with a widespread soaker.

We clear out Monday and by Tuesday morning some areas will be in the 50s for lows.
