Texas fall doesn’t last long. Your backyard to-do list shouldn’t wait.

Those cooler weeks between summer heat and the first real cold snap are the perfect time to give your outdoor space some attention…and get ahead of next year.

Start with the basics:

▶️Put summer gear away properly. Drain, clean, and store anything that won’t be used through the cooler months instead of leaving it exposed all winter.

▶️Check your stone and pavers. If surfaces need cleaning, repairs, or resealing, address them before colder weather arrives and small problems have a chance to become bigger ones.

▶️Get your pool ready for cooler months. Check equipment, adjust maintenance for lower temperatures, and make sure everything is prepared for changing weather.

On this side of the project, the crew is framing what will become the homeowner’s second outdoor kitchen, giving him a convenient place to cook without having to head all the way down to the pool area.

But look up, because that massive gabled structure is doing more than creating a beautiful covered patio.
Its placement also has a purpose: helping shade windows that were taking the brunt of the Texas sun and contributing to a hotter home and higher cooling costs.
Then there’s the cedar pergola.

The part of this fireplace you'll never see might be the most important part of the entire build.

Welcome to Part 1 behind the scenes of this MCM project.

That finished stone fireplace will eventually become a beautiful focal point…but underneath it is where some of the most important work happens.

We're talking a five-foot-deep concrete foundation, reinforced to help keep the fireplace from sinking, shifting, or tilting as Texas soil moves.

Then the fireplace itself starts taking shape. Eventually, homeowners will see beautiful stonework and a finished fireplace.

We see everything that had to be done correctly before the stone ever went on.

That's the difference between building something to look good on day one and building it to last.

Busy crews. Big equipment. Bigger dreams.
September has been a month of serious progress at MCM.

Across our jobsites, backyards are being excavated, foundations are taking shape, materials are moving, and our crews are doing the work that turns an empty yard into something completely different.

Right now, it might look like dirt piles, trenches, heavy equipment, and organized chaos.
But we see what’s coming…

Every dream backyard has a stage where it looks a whole lot more like a construction site than a retreat.

This is that stage. And we love it.

September has kept our crews busy…and there are a lot of incredible transformations underway.

We’re checking in on a build that’s bringing several major backyard features together into one complete design:

A large gabled covered patio for true all-weather outdoor living.
A pergola for another layer of shade and character.

A low-slope patio cover to extend the usable space.

A full outdoor kitchen built for entertaining.

And a fireplace that will give everyone a reason to stay outside when the temperatures drop.
