We are so grateful for the opportunity to support OBX Kite Collective in their beach cleanup today!

One thing you may not know about us is that we are huge watersports enthusiasts! Bronza and I (Rose) love the kiteboarding community here in Hatteras. If you ever spot the Altura Tree trucks at Sandy Bay or Kite Point, take a look on the horizonโ€ฆ. The one doing all the crazy flips is your tree-climber, Bronza!! No wonder heโ€™s not afraid of heights!

Thank you to the lovely kite ladies Bindu, Kat, Sophia, and Cherie for organizing the cleanups and all they do for the community. Their boys arenโ€™t too bad either ๐Ÿ˜‰

Did you know the Eastern Red Cedar isn't actually a cedar? ๐ŸŒฒ

It's a juniper - and one of the hardest working native trees on the Outer Banks. Salt spray, poor soil, coastal winds - no problem.

A few things that make it special:
โ€ข Its blue berries feed over 50 bird species through the winter (including the cedar waxwing, which is literally named after it)
โ€ข That classic cedar chest smell? That's this tree
โ€ข It was the wood used to make pencils in the US for most of the 1800s

This beautiful live oak was due for a haircut.

Alongside removing deadwood and sucker branches, the homeowners asked for a few large branches growing towards the house to be removed.

We lifted a few low branches to make this tree โ€œlawn mower friendlyโ€ and allow more sun to the flowers and lawn below.
