This would be a big help to me, and my employee with elementary school children. As it is now, my employee often has to show up late for work or leave early to get her children to or from the summer camps. My employee has experienced a 3.5% reduction in income since the STAR program ended for the summer at a time when the option of overtime is at it's greatest. This employee also has been using up personal paid leave to make up this shortfall in income. I need this employee available and willing to work overtime to keep up with my busy summer schedule. Hopefully when the effectiveness of this is demonstrated, a permanent funding solution can be accomplished. Please donate to make this program happen.
We've been accepted for the 2025 SJI Cares County Fair Program!
Starting August 14th San Juan Island Community Foundation will be matching the first $1,000 raised for our project. FANS must raise $1,000 in order for the Foundation to match.
Our goal this year, to raise $10,000 to help Island Rec expand summer childcare.
Families that have children attending Island Rec's summer camps are only able to work a 6.5 hour day at most, without some form of additional daycare. Creating a program similar to Island Rec's after-school program will allow island parents to work a full day. Islanders that can work a full schedule are more likely to continue to afford living here.
Can you help us reach our goal?
More details coming soon, but remember to wait until August 14, or it wont count in the match!
