Long before Abraham Lincoln Middle School became a cornerstone of education in Selma, the site was home to the original Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, built in 1895. The campus featured a large two-story schoolhouse facing Lincoln Avenue, with a separate kindergarten building added as the school continued to grow alongside the community.

Fast forward nearly a century, and Darden Architects had the privilege of designing Abraham Lincoln Middle School in 1993, helping continue the legacy of learning at this historic location.

From its beginnings as one of Selma’s early schools to the modern campus serving students today, Abraham Lincoln's story reflects the growth, resilience, and commitment to education that define the Selma community. ❤️📚

After an incredible 30-year career with Darden Architects, Greg Pope is officially beginning a well-deserved retirement.

For three decades, Greg has been a valued member of the Darden family, contributing his expertise, dedication, and steady leadership to projects that have made a lasting impact on communities throughout California. His professionalism, commitment to excellence, and willingness to support colleagues have left a mark on our firm that will be felt for years to come.

While we're certainly going to miss seeing Greg around the office, we're excited for him as he begins this new chapter filled with new adventures, opportunities, and time to enjoy the things he loves most.

Greg, thank you for your 30 years of service, friendship, and contributions to Darden Architects. We are grateful for everything you've done and wish you all the best in your retirement.

👋 Meet One of Our Summer Interns, Grant!
We're excited to welcome Grant back to Darden Architects for another summer internship! A Fresno native and Edison High School graduate, Grant is currently studying architecture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is returning to Darden after previously interning with us as a sophomore.

Grant's interest in architecture began in sixth grade when his teacher, Mr. Gallagher—a former architect—introduced the class to an architecture project that sparked his passion for design.

This summer, he's especially excited to learn more about the early planning and programming phases of architectural projects and gain a deeper understanding of how great designs take shape from the very beginning.

When he's not studying architecture, you'll likely find Grant exploring the outdoors. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, and kayaking, with Pinnacles National Park being one of his favorite places to spend time in nature. 🥾🌲

We're glad to have you back, Grant, and look forward to seeing all you accomplish this summer!

👋 Help us welcome Ashlye to Darden Architects as one of our Summer 2026 Interiors Studio Interns!

A Fresno native and graduate of Edison High School, Ashlye is currently studying Interior Design at Fresno State while also pursuing a minor in Construction Management. Her passion for design was inspired by her father, whose creativity and craftsmanship sparked her interest in creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful. ✨

This summer, Ashlye is excited to learn more about designing for educational environments and gain hands-on experience within the design industry. She was drawn to Darden Architects after searching for interior design opportunities right here in Fresno and is eager to grow her skills alongside our talented Interiors Studio team.

One of Ashlye's biggest design inspirations comes from a recent study abroad experience in London, where she was captivated by the intricate craftsmanship and stunning ceilings found in historic churches and buildings. 🏛️

When she's not studying design, you'll likely find her working on her latest creative hobby - making beaded keychains! 🎨

We're excited to have Ashlye on board this summer and look forward to being part of her design journey.

A piece of Fresno history is shining once again. ✨

Darden Architects is proud to have served as the architect for the restoration and replacement of Downtown Fresno’s iconic G Sign, a landmark that has been part of the city’s skyline since 1965. Originally installed atop the former Guarantee Savings Building, the G became a beloved symbol of downtown and a memorable weather beacon for generations of Fresnans.

When the original sign was found to be beyond repair, a new replica was carefully designed to honor the character and legacy of the original while meeting today’s structural and safety standards. The result is a renewed icon that celebrates Fresno’s past while looking toward its future.

A special thank you to , owner of the historic building and our client on this project, for their commitment to preserving this important piece of local history. Also, thanks to Meza Studios for shooting the footage!

We are honored to have played a role in bringing this treasured landmark back to the Fresno skyline. 💙

When a part your job is to evaluate furniture, sometimes you have to take a seat... or twenty. 😄🪑

Our Interiors Studio team recently attended NeoCon, the premier commercial interiors and furnishings event, where they explored the latest innovations, trends, and workplace solutions shaping the future of design.

From testing out countless chairs to discovering new materials, technology, and design ideas, they brought back plenty of inspiration to help create thoughtful, functional, and engaging spaces for our clients.

We're not saying they found their favorite chair... but we're also not saying they didn't. 😉

🎉 This morning, we had the privilege of celebrating the recipients of the 2026 Darden Architects Scholarship Program!

Congratulations to Jocelyn, Araya, and Karly. These three talented students share a passion for architecture and a bright future in design. 🏛️✨

This fall, Jocelyn and Araya will begin their architectural studies at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, while Karly will continue pursuing architecture at UC Berkeley.

At Darden Architects, we are committed to supporting the next generation of architects and designers who will shape the communities of tomorrow. It was an honor to recognize these outstanding students and learn more about their aspirations, creativity, and dedication to the profession.

We wish all three scholarship recipients the very best as they continue their educational journeys. We can't wait to see the impact they'll make in the future!
