Dirigo Tree Service, LLC is a provider of high quality tree care services in the Greater Portland, Maine area. Our company goal is to perform the best in all aspects of tree service, while informing our customers in the care and maintenance of

their trees. We are proud to offer work that adheres to the highest industry standards with affordable prices to the communities of Southern Maine. Noah, the lead climber and owner of this LLC, has worked in the tree industry for over seven years. He is constantly updating his climbing techniques and CEUs (Continuing Educational Units) to maintain his certification. He obtained his arborist certification through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) in 2013. Noah is originally from Lubec, Maine, but has worked as an arborist in Oregon, New Mexico and Maine. TREE SERVICES:

🌳🔍 Root Excavation in Freeport, Maine
A customer contacted Dirigo Tree Service after noticing mushrooms growing around the base of their oak tree. We suspected honey mushrooms, also known as Armillaria—a fungus associated with root decay that can weaken and damage trees over time. 🍄⚠️
The tree’s root flare had been buried beneath approximately six inches of soil, creating conditions that can retain moisture and contribute to decay. We carefully excavated around the trunk to uncover the root flare and inspect the root collar for signs of Armillaria, including white mycelial fans or mats beneath the bark. 🪵🌱
Exposing the root flare improves airflow and drainage around the trunk and may help reduce conditions that favor the spread of decay. Proper identification should be confirmed through professional testing when necessary. 🌿✅
Healthy trees start with a properly exposed root flare.
