Few things feel more comforting than warm homemade biscuits fresh from the oven topped with rich sausage gravy. Whether it is breakfast with family on a weekend morning or a comfort-food dinner after a long day, biscuits and gravy have been bringing people together for generations.

Here is a simple homemade recipe to celebrate today:

Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients:
• 2 cups flour
• 1 tablespoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1/2 cup cold butter
• 3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425°.
Mix dry ingredients together.
Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
Stir in buttermilk until dough forms.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every single day — the freedom to gather with family, build our futures, grow our communities, and live the American dream.

While many spend the holiday weekend with cookouts, travel, and time together, we should never forget the true meaning of Memorial Day. It is a day of remembrance, gratitude, and respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our nation and protecting the freedoms we sometimes take for granted.
