Steel, 5x5 post for load transfer to the foundation from the monster ridge beam. Cathedral ceiling in the main area and if you like big beams.... the entire 1st floor attached wall is being removed and the loft on the opposite end free spans the entire structure.
I will update after the breezeway and garage are framed.

Between the heat and the rain the weather has not been our friend while framing this addition.... but the main room is done! We just need to do the breezeway and the garage when the trusses are ready. When we ordered the trusses they said a 3 week lead time... when we paid for the trusses it turned into 3 months......

12 hours framing, sheeting and papering this roof yesterday in probably 110° humidity + full sun with this guy up top with me all day. 1 & 1/2 cases of water, lots of electrolytes drinks, lemonade and refreshers.... and no p*e breaks... that's sweating!

These power outages in Beaver are ridiculous.... so glad to have a generator on standby!!!

Beaver addition update! We poured the footer today. 27 yards of concrete, 3 trucks... in Beaver on Garrison Days! Triple 5/8 rebar reinforced Ufer bonded to the electrical panel. Beaver is in a Glacial Basin near the Ohio River so the ground is mainly sand and river rocks so it needed to be trenched and sured to prevent it from caving in. The existing houses stone foundation was parged where exposed and one corner was poured with reinforced concrete. Next step is pinning the foundation and starting the block!

Since we are closing off the basement entrance for the addition we need to repair these floor joists in the kitchen area. The kitchen of the existing house is being remodeled along with the addition. Don't mind the cistern, it unlocked a new fear for me!
