We will be opening late (1:00 PM), tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8th, so that we may all celebrate the life of our dear friend and colleague, Teresa Hinkson.

Thank you for understanding.

Teresa Yvonne Hinkson, age 62, of Frederick, Maryland, died Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, Maryland, after her long battle with cancer. She was a loving wife to her wonderful husband, Terry Martindale, and dog mom to their beloved Joey. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Louise Hinkson, born June 13, 1962, in Silver Spring, Maryland, and grew up in Laurel, Maryland.

Teresa’s soft nature, and compassionate soul were reflected through her long career at Petersen’s Carpet and Flooring. She truly cared about each of her customers and always took the time to get to know them. She enjoyed the hustle and bustle of working a fast-paced job but never forgot to stop and enjoy the little things in life. Teresa’s joys in life were her family, and her love for God. The Lord’s light shined very brightly through her contagious smile, and quirky laugh. She had a passion for flowers, taking care of her garden, reading the Bible, and listening to her Christian music. She loved everything about the beach; the feeling of the sun on her face, the sound of the waves crashing, and the coolness of the water when it hit her toes.

She never hesitated to reach out a helping hand to those in need and was always there to provide support for others. Her most memorable moments in life were spent with her loving family, and friends.

She is survived by, and was the most amazing mother to, her twin daughters, Rebecca Myers, boyfriend Kevin Holmes, and Michelle Shores, husband Ryan Shores, and stepmother to Justin Graves and Marcie Gregory. She was the grandmother of her precious jewel, Presley June Shores. Teresa is also survived by her two sisters and one brother; Gina Taylor, husband Tim Taylor, and their children, Kevin, Casey and Baylee and sister Lora Arrington, husband Stephen Arrington, and their children, Joshua and Victoria and her brother, Christopher Kline, wife Erin Kline. She is also survived by her childhood best friend of almost 50 years, Carol Kaiser Coker, husband Brad Coker and their children, Melissa and Jamie.

The family will receive family and friends on January 7th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opposumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. A funeral service will be held on January 8th at 11:00am at the Stauffer Funeral Home with the interment immediately following the service at Resthaven Cemetery, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701. The family asks, if possible, please wear purple, her favorite color, as she wanted to fill the room with color.

We asked, and dear Frederick, did you ever deliver...

For our 2024/25 12 Days of Giving, we asked for you to nominate your favorite Frederick County based non-profits. The post received overwhelming attention, totaling over 600 comments of nominations and votes for us to sort through and tally.

You nominated 61 local non-profits and over a third were animal related. In total, animal related charities received nearly 500 votes!

You spoke loud and clear and we listened! For this year's 12 Days of Giving, nearly all 12 non-profits are animal related and we're excited. Voting will begin next week, so be sure to follow the page for your chance to vote for your favorite. Donations will be awarded as follows:

1st Place: $3000
2nd Place: $2000
3rd Place: $1000

The 9 runners up will split the remaining $6000 evenly, so all 12 non-profits will receive a donation!

It is with a heavy heart that we post the obituary of our longtime friend and colleague, Teresa Hinkson.
I've been sitting thinking for the past few hours about our time working together. I've worked with Teresa longer than any other person currently on our team. Long time. Lots of very late nights putting proposals together for clients. She bonded with so many people through the years as she helped them with insurance claims, selecting new materials, creatively offering solutions. She was an excellent professional and a friend to many. We were a better team with her on it. Teresa will be missed. We hold her husband, Terry, daughters, Rebecca & Michelle and the rest of her beloved family in our thoughts as they walk through this time. May there be comfort in knowing Teresa will be remembered with a smile from her Petersen's family.

Hello Frederick!

We've been busy little bees, so we're late getting started on our favorite charitable giving campaign - but, better late than never, right?

Last year, we changed the structure a bit, and thought it worked well, so we're going to stick with the new format. We're still giving $12,000 to 12 local non-profits, but with a 12 day voting window to determine our 1st ($3000), 2nd ($2000), 3rd ($1000) place recipients and 9 runners up, all of whom will receive a check from us to help them further their missions!

But FIRST - we need to select our 12 non-profits and we need your help! Comment below to let us know who your favorite, Frederick County based non-profits are. We have a couple favorites we love to include, but are always looking for new non-profits for consideration. We will be announcing our 12 recipients before the end of the month and voting will begin early January.
