It’s officially Tree Week in Kentucky, and there’s a LOT happening across the state to celebrate! We’ve put together a few lists of events happening throughout Kentucky in a community near you. Get outside, learn something new, plant a tree, and show a little love to the trees and natural spaces that do so much for us:)

How lucky are we to live in communities where people come together to appreciate, protect, plant, learn, and connect! Healthy communities and healthy landscapes don’t happen by accident- the difference starts with all of us.

Search “Tree Week Kentucky 2026” on Facebook or visit the UK Urban Forest Initiative’s Tree Week page to find events and all things trees near you. https://ufi.mgcafe.uky.edu/treeweek

And, of course, trees are a huge part of what we do. During the landscape design process, we’re thinking well beyond how a tree looks today - mature canopy size, placement, site conditions, how it will interact with the architecture and surrounding landscape, and the many ecological benefits it can provide for decades to come. Plant for today, design for the future. Happy Tree Week Kentucky!🌳

It’s been a busy couple of months of learning, exploring, and getting inspired!

In September, our designers headed to the Association of Professional Landscape Designers conference in Columbus, with inspiration from Jeff Epping, Chicago Botanic Garden , Nick & Allison McCullough of McCullough's Landscape & Nursery. Andrea especially loved the Makers Tour.

Our team enjoyed Plant Trials Day at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden-always one of our favorite educational events.

Closer to home, Amanda and Jewell represented IOD at GreenFest, a sustainability festival at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary. Our office team spent a day touring client gardens, learning from the landscapes we’ve helped create (and even getting a peek at an impressive KISS collection). Thank you to our clients!

Always learning. Always growing.

A quaint sitting spot in the garden where the rigid edge of natural stone boulders are met with soft and looming 'Blue Fortune' Agastache. Other featured plants include liatris, sedge, native grasses and monarda.

Outreach project check in! We took a quick visit to our local sculpture park and got to see some community members enjoying the dead hedges we built and donated in 2023. It truly is a serene spot and a wonderful place to immerse yourself in nature. JSP offers walking trails across their property with so many sculptures to view and some to interact with, throughout.

Well-designed hardscapes do more than look beautiful, they make everyday life better.

More efficient parking. A pond that brings wildlife and tranquility closer. A fire pit that becomes a favorite gathering place.

Thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship creates spaces that fit the way you live and places where memories are made for years to come. Those are investments you’ll be glad you made.

A lovely neighborhood entrance in the outskirts of downtown Louisville. Annuals add a pop of color while low growing evergreen boxwood provide a steady shade of green. The calamint attracts pollinators (mostly bees). The last photo is before.

The difference just a few months makes in a landscape. The first photo was taken in August while the second photo was taken in May. The prairie dock, Agastache, black eyed Susans and lambs ear add the perfect touch of unique and fresh at this business entrance, that's for sure!
