3-1/4 inches!!!! That’s how much the floor was out of level in this little kitchen. Took some creative problem solving, some custom blocking, but now it’s perfectly level, very solid, and ready for countertops. That blows my previous most of 2 inches out of the water. Sometimes that just what you get in old houses. My solution here was custom sized blocks screwed into the floor. The designer did a great job putting the appliances on the high end of the kitchen where they will be at a comfortable working height.

đŸ–ŒïžThinking we may need to build a picture frame and hang it right here to capture these beautiful morning paintings drawn by God and my 136 Year Old Wavy Glass. There is a Mulberry Tree behind the house, that and the nearby town were the inspiration for the name Mulberry Woodworking. As the breeze hits the leaves it creates these patterns all over the house.

đŸ”„Crappy House, Gorgeous Details Part 4 Solid Butternut interior doors, 1-3/4” thick, 8 foot tall, seven panel, raised panel, with solid bronze hardware from 1885
 so much detail, and I love all of it! Our 1890 Victorian house was abandoned for some time, we bought it six years ago and have slowly been fixing it up as budget and time allows. The door hardware was made by Mallory & Wheeler circa 1885 and is their Arabic Collection. If you have old hardware and beautiful doors in your Victorian home, please post a photo in the comments!  all things I love about our front porch details. The paint removal process will take FOREVER, And yes, I’m sure it’s lead paint. Our house was built in 1890, hard to believe it’s 136 years old. This stained glass window in our parlor is a very special feature of our 1890 Victorian home. The color of the stained glass, the unique detail of casing landing on plinth blocks that go to the floor, the massive corner blocks
 It all makes up for a gorgeous trim detail that we just don’t see in homes anymore. We bought this house six years ago, it was abandoned for a while. We are in the process of restoring and remodeling one little piece at a time, as budget and time allows.  Literally took my breath way. As a Carpenter, that hasn’t happened too many times in my life. One of my big goals is to restore and remodel my house. My Magnum Opus, so to speak. Our house was built in 1890 and hasn’t been through any remodeling for many decades. It has some Eastlake details but is primarily Queen Anne.

đŸ”„Cabinet Lighting is such an underrated part of kitchen remodeling. Here are a couple of helpful definitions to know when researching your product. Tunable - color temperature changing (so that you can match your mood/vibe or other lighting fixtures) Dimmable - Making brighter or dimmer. I make ALL of my projects both, I don’t want my customers stuck with a color temperature that doesn’t work. Also, my customers love the low setting for a night light or just a calm mood. You can see how much that matters in this beautiful painted kitchen that we are close to completing.
