We receive a starteling amount of calls from potential clients with issues related to the “unsavory chimney sweeps “ out there. Scammers are all over the nation now posing and taking money from way too many people that do NOT research the contractors. Permits are required for most of the work we perform . To apply for a permit a contractor must have a Construction Supervisors License and the company a Home Improvement Contractor registration number with the state of MA. If they cannot provide those that’s the first red flag.

Called out to a boiler/ vent fire fix at Camp Edwards on Cape Cod. I am amazed the vent held the fire! It was caused by soot buildup at the collar as it was not serviced since install. Unfortunately it was at the base fire station . We will be back with new vent pipe working alongside the boiler replacement company. In our industry we never know what we will go to or see when we get there for sure. Some fun vehicles to see in base also 😎.

Privileged to have had the inventor, Tom M, as well as ‘s Ron V and Jon W at our shop this AM for product introduction and training . This line of products will be replacing our old line of the same. Not too long ago (less than 100 years ) this was the coal heated water system and tank at our clients home. Fire up the coal stove and the huge tank stores the water . This system is pretty easy to understand compared to our modern day systems for sure !

Other than residential we do provide commercial services. Here we installed a new horizontal run complete with condensate lines and the rigid vent pipe inside the chimney to complete from the appliance to the vertical termination above the roof. Imagine kneeling in front of your fireplace… reaching in and opening the damper and getting some little eyes staring back… sometimes many. Here we are removing a squirrels nest after that happened and the animal was removed. We are asked all the time what’s the worst or best thing we have “cleaned” out of a chimney or fireplace or heating flue . Best and worst are up for debate another time lol Inspect and / or sweep your flue/ chimney yearly .. trust me .
