I get my groceries delivered to my door,
Meals arrive without me leaving anymore.
Sitting on the couch, remote in my hand,
Wondering if this show is worth the time I spend.
I cover up with sunscreen every day,
UV clothes between me and the rays.
Taking vitamins for sunshine I don’t see,
Living in a world of modern irony.
Chorus
Oh, what a convenient life we’ve made,
Everything’s a click away.
We’ve got more than we ever dreamed before,
Yet somehow we’re still wanting more.
I work, I pay, I do my part,
Trying to get ahead, trying to be smart.
But sometimes I look around and wonder why,
The harder we work, the faster time flies.
I pay a gym membership I never use,
Getting weight-loss shots instead of tying my shoes.
Six streaming services calling out my name,
But no time to watch them all the same.
An eighty-five-inch TV waits upstairs,
But my phone is where I watch from anywhere.
A tiny screen in the palm of my hand,
Running my life better than I planned.
I went to school to earn a little more,
Opened every possible door.
Now they say I make too much to qualify,
So I keep on working, keep on getting by.
Meanwhile, I see the headlines every day,
People getting help in different ways.
And I wonder where the balance should be,
For those who work and those in need.
Final Chorus
Oh, what a complicated life we’ve made,
Wrapped in comfort, wrapped in trade.
We’ve got everything at our fingertips,
But still we’re searching for the missing piece.
Maybe it’s not about what we own,
Or how much we earn when all is known.
Maybe the things that matter most are free—
Time, love, purpose, and family.
