I absolutely freaking love it when we get a review that recognizes not just the finished project, but the people behind the work!

I’m especially grateful when y'all mention Ben and the rest of our crew, because showing up on time, paying attention to the little details, and taking pride in their work is exactly what I want our team to be known for.

26 has always been a favorite number of mine. No logical reasoning, I've just always liked it. But eight years ago, a total life change gave some pretty decent reasons for it to be a favorite number. There's a whole wealth of gratitude tied to the 26th of September. It's the anniversary of our family's small business, Lone Star Glass and Gutter, and we've made it eight years this Saturday!

Looking back, there are so many reasons to be thankful and people to be grateful for. For family who flew James and me out to Oregon to give a crash course in running a window cleaning business. For a nationwide window cleaning community who has given pointers and even had our back when we encountered difficulties. For a local community of fellow small business owners who have been willing to give of their time and form real connections over great coffee. For hundreds of clients who chose to support us and even cheered us on and shared our name. And absolutely for a solid, dedicated team who has worked so hard and grown with us.

Eight years ago we took a leap of faith, praying hard for wisdom and provision. Almost a decade in, and we're still amazed at God's goodness and all the people placed in our path that have led us to where we are now.

One of my favorite things now is grabbing coffee with other business owners who understand the ups, downs, and everything in between of running a service business!

I had the chance this morning to connect with Tim Herman from Window Hero Fort Worth at Match Point Coffee, and conversations like these are a good reminder that small business doesn’t have to mean doing everything alone.

Life has a way of sneaking up on you sometimes, in a variety of ways. Like, how is my daughter in preschool already? Didn't we JUST change that air filter? And what do you mean that event I'm supposed to be prepared for is this Saturday? 😅

The "Ber" months seem to have a special way of doing this extra. There's often a lot packed into this part of the year, and sometimes things sneak up on you before you know it. It can feel like there's a million things to do, but we all want to be present and soak up the season too.

Take it from someone who errs on the procrastinating side and may or may not forget things the older my mom brain gets. 🙃 Use early fall to prep. I try to jot down notes whenever they enter my head. If a call to get something scheduled takes less than 5 minutes, why not do it now? It's the countless little things swirling in and out of the brain that make it harder to actually feel present and like you're ready for the next thing.

You might have a running list of home maintenance tasks. If you know your home is going to need a good window clean to feel fresh for the events ahead, get that call in to schedule it!

Why is it that, so often, what we want and what we need are two completely different things? 😭

But every once in a while, we get lucky and they overlap, and that's especially true when your windows are overdue for a good cleaning.

I have to give my team all the credit, because these guys are out there working hard every single day!

Texas heat is no joke, but they continue to show up and take care of our customers without complaint.

And somehow, in the middle of all that heat, they're bringing in more 5-star reviews than I ever did when I was in the field. Y'all must like them or something.

I know how hard this work can be because I’ve spent plenty of years doing it myself, so I don’t take for granted what our team puts in every day.
