We are close to releasing an update to our Portal to Adventure RPG rule set. The current single volume will be replaced by a Player's Source book and a Game's Master's Sourcebook. The player book has information about races, classes, all sorts of combat, all the spells, ordinary gear, etc. The GM book has information about monsters and Enchanted gear, etc. I'm waiting for the cover art.

Spellbook Games has been working on a new and different kind of product, a science fiction source book. It covers a volume of 1 million cubic light years and contains more than 2700 star systems. The product will be titled the Kir-Tazlin Arm. I'm working toward a March 2024 release date.

Spellbook Games is proud to announce the publication of our latest game aid, Lord of the Wilderness. Lord of the Wilderness addresses the Adventurer's quest to acquire an estate or fief, whether they have 'retired' from adventuring and want to settle down, or are looking for a base of operations that also brings in income. The game aid has 12 parts which includes detailed rules (and costs) for: generating as many generation of the Adventurer's family as needed, inheriting an estate, petitioning the monarch for a title and estate, buying an estate, acquiring an estate through marriage, conquering an estate, acquiring an estate through gambling and other criminal activity, establishing an independent fief in the wilderness, and determing the income derived from a fief. Establishing a fief includes surveying the fief location, recruiting workers and settlers, construction statistics for building types, feeding the settlers, and harvesting local resources. The game aid also includes sections describing the challenges of ruling and the challenges that can occur in the Adventurer's family.

Lord of the Wilderness fills a gap in an Adventurer's career as they transition away from being dungeon and tomb explorers and become feudal lords. The information in Lord of the Wilderness is most applicable in one-on-one interactions between a Player and a Gamesmaster, conducted separately from group game sessions. The game aid is mostly system-neutral. Where reference is made to a specific game system it uses Spellbook Game's Portal to Adventure system. Games Masters using any game system should be able to use this game aid with virtually no conversion required. 126 pages. $3.97. Available now on DrivethruRPG.com.

I'm working on an on-again, off-again, project to create a sci-fi version of our Portal to Adventure rules (the revised version). The most success has been in the area of building and operating (and fighting) Spacecraft, that section of the draft rules is 56 pages. I could use some review and comments, you know where to find me.

Spellbook Games is proud to release a new Games Master aid, 600 Meetings in the City. ‘600 Meets’ provides a wide variety of encounters suitable for use in urban settings, from small towns to large cities, adding flavor and interest to an otherwise undetailed environment. The encounters are not designed to end in combat but some might. Some meetings are intended to challenge an Adventurer’s sense of decency and morality, not their prowess with weapons. These encounters can be a good means for a Games Master to introduce different kinds of challenges, new information, rumors, NPC’s, quest paths, and perhaps misdirection. This game aid is divided into three major sections, Meetings on the Street, Meetings in Bars and Restaurants, and Meetings in Shops, each with 200 meeting descriptions. The product includes additional bonus material, 100 kernels describing city festivals and celebrations, and random names for Major Streets, Minor Streets, Alleys, Bridges, Squares and Plazas, and Taverns, each with 160 random names.

Although there is very little system-specific information in 600 Meetings it does make some use of our Portal to Adventure Rules. Now available on DrivethruRPG. 74 pages, $4.11.

I'm finishing up '600 Meets in the City,' just got a cover from Art Devil. Not only do you get 600 ideas for city meetings, they are broken up with 200 on the street, 200 in a bar or restaurant, and 200 in shops. But there is more! The product also includes 160-entry lists of names for major streets, minor streets, and alleys, as well as names for bridges, plazas, and gates. And more! It includes 100 idea kernels for city festivals.

With 500 Meets on the Road out, I've been working on its companion volume, Meets in the City. 'City' is broken into categories, on the street, in a bar or restaurant, and in a shop. I am close to having 500 entries now, I just have to decide how far to go, maybe this one will be 750.

Just like the previous product, these are meetings and not encounters, some of the ones on the street are events. They are not necessarily designed to end in combat, though some could go that way. They do provide ways to introduce characters to NPC's that could be useful to know, for good or bad.

I'm registered for Long Con in November, though I'll only be there on Friday and Saturday morning. I will be running a Friday game and a Saturday game.

Friday 6 pm Belly of the Beast. The PC's are dropped into the dark dungeon with only the tunics on their back and a terrible beast lurks somewhere below. Pregens L1-L2.

Saturday 9am Bounty from Heaven. An exploration scenario in the Valley of Drakes, looking for a metal meteorite that fell to earth. The group starts out mounted, if they can stay that way (variety of horse-related rules). Pregens L5-L6.

500 Meets on the Road has been released and is available on DriveThruRPG.

I am pleased to announce the release of Spellbook Games' most recent product, ''12Thousand Names." This is a different product for us, 12Thousand Names is an Excel spreadsheet with two tabs, Personal Names and Place Names. The Personal Name tab returns names in thirteen simultaneous categories every time the user hits Calculate, they are: male and female Human, male and female Elf, male and female Gnome (Halfling), male Dwarf, Dragons, Giants, Goblins and Trolls and Ogres, Other Creatures, pre-name nicknames, male post-name nickname and female post-name nickname. The name categories choose between 1100 unique names (no crossover between categories) and the nickname categories choose from 600 entries. This gives the user more than 12-thousand possible unique personal names.

The geographical names implements the random naming tables from our Town Generator product, in two and three linguistic kernels. Each kernal has 600 choices, for a total of more than 300-thousand two-kernam names and more than 20-million three-kernal names. Each calculation generates town names, street names, and some building names.

I expect this might be the only naming product a Games Master will ever need, and it will generate more names than any campaign can need.

Users trying to use this spreadsheet in a product other than Excel may have to manually adjust column sizes and make other formatting fixes. Available now on Drive-Thru RPG.
