Big dreams. A tiny budget. A narrow piece of ground.

The constraints became the architecture.

A slender form stretches deep into the site, shielding itself from the west while opening carefully to light and view.

At the street, a concrete wall offers privacy, then slips inside, drawing daylight between the beams and deep into the home.

Economy became clarity.
Privacy became openness.
Constraint became possibility.

The obstacles were already there.
A sloping steel frame.
An existing stair.
A space that resisted what it needed to become.

Rather than conceal these constraints, the design drew them into the architecture. The stair became the expression, steel veiling a streak of brand yellow, glimpsed from the showroom, immersive from within.

Constraint became opportunity.
Structure became experience.
Detail became identity.

A building is experienced daily. For years, decades, its tenants work under its lights, staff unlock its doors each morning, and maintenance crews keep it running.

With this lasting view towards design, we begin first with what the client needs the building to do and what the project can afford. Good design means the building can live comfortably, be easy to maintain, and serve the people who use it.

That responsibility starts with the budget and reaches well beyond it.

Intentional, pragmatic design is the alchemy of discipline, coordination, and curiosity.

Discipline means results that thrive under budget and schedule.

Coordination connects architecture, interiors, and construction so a design is buildable.

Curiosity asks “why?” before deciding “what,” so the building responds to the needs of its users.

Southside Macon was one of the largest food deserts in the country. Within four of the county’s most distressed census tracts, a community that was 90% Black faced economic hardship, deteriorating housing, and little access to fresh food. But within the community, another future was beginning to take root.

Led by a third-generation resident, the community imagined an urban farm that could transform blighted properties into productive ground, without displacement.
Our work began there, drawing from the people, the place, and a rich legacy of growing, looking to the community’s own history for the seeds of its future.

The proposed pavilion became the threshold to this new landscape. Framing from abandoned houses would be reclaimed and lifted overhead, transforming remnants of decline into shelter, shade, and a place to gather.

To find abundance within scarcity.
To find value in what had been discarded.
To transform what needed to change into a symbol of what could be.

The act of tearing down becomes an act of creation.

Hotel Revel’s unmistakable presence made it an instant landmark in Fort Worth’s Near Southside.

Along 8th Avenue, three-story fins cascade across the façade in a gradient of blue, forming an ethereal veil.

From the street, they soften the building’s edge, shifting with light, movement, and perspective. Behind them, outdoor rooms, the space between building and city, hover above the sidewalk, framing long views through the city.

The architecture is never quite still. It changes as you move through it and as the city moves around it.

At the Northside Boys & Girls Club, we saw a small grant to add security at the entry as an opportunity to transform the experience of arrival.

One of the most recognizable brands in the country became part of the architecture itself, its iconic blue and familiar logo amplified in a bold, immersive way.

Inside, color, glass, and light reshape the lobby as a place of welcome and community connection. A few deliberate moves transform the experience, turning identity into material, brand into place, and arrival into something memorable.
