Testing for Performance, Not Just Appearance.

A beautiful home should do more than look good. It should perform well, too.
As part of our standard construction process, we conduct blower door tests to measure how much air can leak through small gaps and cracks. The lower the number, the tighter and more energy-efficient the home.

This home achieved an impressive score of 0.9 ACH50 (air changes per hour at 50 Pascals), which is well below the code requirement of 3.0. That means improved comfort, lower utility bills, and greater control over indoor air quality.

Simply but effective - passive solar design in action.

The awning of one of our current projects in progress is doing exactly what it was designed to do - block the summer sun from entering the home. This improves comfort and helps keep utility costs at bay by delaying the use of mechanical (AC) systems.

Sharing Knowledge on Home Energy Improvements.

Last month, Ferrier Homes founder Donald Ferrier traveled to Dallas to speak with a group of engineers about a topic he is passionate about: how to make existing homes more energy efficient.

From improving insulation and air sealing to upgrading building systems, there are many ways to increase comfort, reduce energy costs, and improve the performance of an existing home.
