We’re staying busy over here at Higher Standard Construction framing up a massive 45x40x14 shop, complete with a 20ft carport and a 12ft lean-to. Because let’s be honest...you can never really have too much covered square footage.🤣

We hit a bit of a "speed bump" at the shop today. Turns out, our layout and fabrication process is too efficient for our gear!

I told the boss it was time for a new welder, but she gave me the big "No."

Apparently, asking the Hobart MVP210 to put down 72 inches of continuous weld on 3/16" steel was a bit much. The machine decided it needed a nap and hit that thermal overload.

There is something satisfying about the "bones" of a new build coming together.

Today was all about the details with lining rafters up perfectly to layout and weld purlin clips.

This wasn't your average renovation. We started by tearing down the existing back wall and installing a heavy-duty I-beam truss to carry the roof load. From there, we walled in three sides, added five windows and installed a garage door to create a fully enclosed, custom indoor batting cage.

The real test? Working with the existing concrete that dropped a full 7 inches over a 40-foot run. It took some precision engineering and a commitment to a higher standard to get everything leveled out and looking seamless, but the results speak for themselves.

Whether it’s a massive shop or a specialized sports space, we take pride in solving the tough problems so our clients get exactly what they envisioned.

Kate has been hard at work behind the CNC plasma table, torching through plate steel to bring some incredible custom designs to life. Just look at this Christmas sign! So proud of the work she’s putting in!

Site Prep Complete. We've completed another house and shop pad! This project required cutting into the hillside to effectively reroute the watershed and seamlessly blend the pad into the natural terrain. With excavation work complete, we’re ready for the next phase which includes a massive 45x60 Higher Standard built shop and custom built home by JB Gibson Homes . Stay tuned for the build!

Boom! Kate and I completely skinned the building in a blazing fast 3 days! Just a two-person crew crushing it. 💪. Next phase: BRICK! Super excited to see the colors come together. This is where the whole thing is going to pop off. Keep following along!
