What does small business really mean to us?

It’s getting the whole family out on the job on a Saturday morning to lay down some sod. It’s teaching the kids that hard work, sweat equity, and putting in the hours are how you actually build a successful life.

Long, hard, hot weekend in the books but the results speak for themselves! ☀️🔨

We just wrapped up a 20x40 cover extending off the side of an existing shop. Matching up to existing structures always means the measurements have to be absolute spot-on perfection, and we nailed it.

🚨 NOT ALL METAL BUILDINGS ARE CREATED EQUAL 🚨
In the metal building industry, there is no universal "code book" or standard. If you aren't careful, what looks like a good deal on paper can end up being a massive compromise in structural integrity.

Take a close look at the difference here:

❌ "Their Wall" (The Cheap Way)
Look at the spacing on those end-wall girts (purlins). When you stretch that distance too far, you are drastically over-spanning the R-panel.

The Result? Weak walls, panels that rattle and flex in high winds, and a building prone to oil-canning and structural failure over time. They saved a few bucks on steel; you inherited the risk.

"Higher Standard’s Wall" (The Right Way)
Look at the grid structural framing on our wall. We don't skip steps or cut corners.

The Result? Maximum support for the R-panel, tight spans, and a rock-solid skeleton built to handle the elements without breaking a sweat.

The Hard Truth: If a builder's price seems too good to be true, ask yourself what they left out of the walls to get there. You shouldn't have to be a structural engineer to get a building that lasts, but you do need to know what your builder is trying to sell you.

We hit a bit of a "speed bump" at the shop today. Turns out, our layout and fabrication process is too efficient for our gear!

I told the boss it was time for a new welder, but she gave me the big "No."

Apparently, asking the Hobart MVP210 to put down 72 inches of continuous weld on 3/16" steel was a bit much. The machine decided it needed a nap and hit that thermal overload.
