🏠 Your roof is more than just shingles.

A lot of people think a new roof means putting new shingles on top of the old ones. But a properly installed Owens Corning roofing system is made up of several components that work together to protect your home.

Here’s the simple version 👇

🔨 1. Decking
This is the foundation of your roof. It’s the wood underneath everything else, and it needs to be sound before the roofing system goes on.

💧 2. Ice & Water Barrier
This provides extra protection in vulnerable areas where water is more likely to get underneath the shingles — especially around eaves, valleys, and other critical areas.

🌧️ 3. Underlayment
Think of this as another layer of defense against moisture between the decking and the shingles.

🌬️ 4. Ventilation
Proper attic ventilation helps air move through the attic, which can help manage heat and moisture and protect the life of your roofing system.

🛡️ 5. Shingles
This is the layer everyone sees, but it’s only one part of the system. Owens Corning shingles are designed to work together with the other components to provide protection from the elements.

🏡 6. Accessories & Flashing
Ridge caps, starter shingles, flashing and other components help seal vulnerable areas and create a complete system.

The goal isn’t just to put a roof over your house. It’s to build a roofing system where each layer has a job.

That’s why the materials and the installation matter.

At Old Fort Roofing, we believe homeowners deserve to understand what’s actually going on over their heads. Because when you know what you’re paying for, you can make a better decision for your home.

🏠 New week. Fresh start. Strong roof.

Your roof is one of those things you don’t think much about—until something goes wrong.

A missing shingle, small leak, or damaged flashing can turn into a much bigger (and more expensive) problem if it’s ignored.

This week, take a minute to look up. 👀
If something doesn’t look right, it’s better to have it checked than to wait for the next storm to find out.

Protect your home. Protect your investment.

Have a safe and productive week! ☀️🔨

The first stage of every roof repair: convincing yourself, “It’s probably nothing.” 😂

That little leak? Probably nothing.
That missing shingle? Probably nothing.
That stain on the ceiling? Definitely something you’ll “deal with later.” 😅

But roofs have a funny way of making small problems much bigger when they’re ignored.

If your roof is trying to tell you something, it’s probably worth listening. A small repair today can save you from a much bigger headache tomorrow.

Old Fort Roofing … because “probably nothing” can get expensive.

There’s a difference between selling a roof and actually taking care of people.

In the roofing business, honesty matters.

At Old Fort Roofing, we believe you shouldn’t be told you need work that you don’t need just to make a sale. If your roof has life left in it, we’ll tell you. If a repair makes more sense than a replacement, we’ll tell you that too.

Because doing the right thing isn’t always the most profitable thing—but it’s the right thing.

There’s a difference between getting a customer and earning someone’s trust.

And that’s what makes Old Fort one of a kind. 🏠

Honesty. Integrity. Quality workmanship.
That’s the way we believe roofing should be done

🌈💫 DID YOU KNOW?

A roof leak is often the last sign of a roofing problem—not the first.

Lifted shingles, damaged flashing, missing granules, and hidden moisture can cause damage long before you see a stain on your ceiling.

Your roof usually whispers before it screams.

Catch the small problems before they become expensive ones.

Wow! 🌧️ We had some heavy wind and storms yesterday. Is your roof protected?

Strong winds can cause loose or missing shingles, damaged flashing, and other problems that aren’t always obvious from the ground.

Don’t wait for a small issue to become a costly repair. If your home was in the path of yesterday’s storms, it’s worth taking a closer look.
