A new workspace for the crews who keep Porter County’s roads running.

The completed Highway Department facilities in Valparaiso include offices, a maintenance garage, sign shop, cold storage building and salt barn, along with improved site access and parking.

A&Z Engineering partnered with Martin Riley Architects, providing surveying, civil and structural design, architectural coordination and construction administration.

Better roads help communities make room for growth. A&Z’s work on CR 300N and CR 200W in Warsaw included roadway reconstruction, widening, turn lanes, and drainage improvements to support access to the City’s industrial sites and accommodate truck traffic. Check it out:

Today we celebrated the opening of Union Chapel Trail with a ribbon-cutting!

The completed trail gives neighbors a dedicated place to walk and bike along Union Chapel Road, with marked crossings and a connection to Maple Creek Middle School.

A&Z is proud to have been part of the team that brought this project to life. It’s rewarding to see these improvements ready for the community to enjoy!

We had a little extra help at Trine University’s Tailgate for Talent today.

Our team met students in Angola and talked about A&Z’s civil engineering, surveying, and construction inspection work. Fonzi handled introductions and even made time for a photo with Storm!

A successful roundabout begins well before construction.

Traffic patterns, property access, emergency vehicles, utilities and site conditions all influence the design. Community engagement matters too—especially when residents are preparing for their first roundabout and have questions about how a familiar intersection will change.

Roundabouts are designed to do more than keep traffic moving.

Their geometry helps manage vehicle speeds, reduce conflict points and create a more predictable intersection. But a successful roundabout must also account for the people and places around it—from pedestrians and nearby properties to school buses, emergency vehicles and large trucks.

A great day at Purdue’s Industrial Roundtable.
