âš¡ Did you know? Copper has been the trusted standard for home wiring for well over a century.
Copper wiring has been used in homes since the late 1800s because it's durable, reliable, and an excellent conductor of electricity.
In the 1960s, rising copper prices led many homes built between 1964 and 1973 to be wired with aluminum instead. Over time, aluminum wiring proved to be more prone to overheating and loose connections, creating potential fire hazards. By the mid-1970s, the industry returned to using copper as the standard for residential wiring.
If your home was built during that time frame and you're unsure what type of wiring you have, Henderson Electric can help. We'll inspect your electrical system, answer your questions, and help keep your home safe and up to today's standards.
