Anyone can just lay tile and throw spacers down..
Not everybody vacuums & mops their subfloor to guarantee adhesion with their choice of mortar, trowels a bed of mortar all oriented the same to ensure proper drying underneath, lays their cement board in a bed of mortar, screws it down every 6”-9” to ensure it’s flat & stuck, wipes all the joints with the proper tape and each screw hole with mortar, does 4 coats of Redguard/Waterproofing material- alternating direction between each coat to ensure an even 4mm coat, and THEN install tile and leveling clips.
If you made it this far hopefully you learned something you didn’t know about laying tile. There’s a right & wrong way to do everything. Make sure your contractor takes the proper steps to guarantee a solid product that’s 100% waterproof.
