Risley Architects was honored to partner with Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to renovate Petit Jean State Park Mather Lodge, originally started by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and expanded with a two-story addition by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in 1941.

Our goal was to preserve the lodge's character while thoughtfully updating it for today's guests. We retained as many original materials as possible, removed elements from previous renovations, and restored key exterior features with appropriate windows, new roof shingles, and a replacement fire escape.

Interior renovations included expanded guest rooms, three ADA-compliant guest rooms, the conversion of the former conference room into an additional guest room, and comprehensive upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

We're proud to support ADPHT in preserving the character of this lodge while enhancing its functionality for today's visitors.
