What began as a kitchen sink leak turned into a larger remediation project once the affected areas behind the cabinetry were fully accessed.

In this ongoing project, moisture had impacted multiple sections behind the kitchen cabinets and surrounding materials. As remediation progressed, cabinet removal and containment were necessary to properly address the affected areas and continue accessing the full scope of the damage.

What started as a wall that felt soft to the touch turned out to be microbial growth developing inside the wall cavity from ongoing water intrusion around the window.

From containment and content protection to removal and treatment, this job is a good example of why small changes inside a home should not be ignored. Once the wall was opened, the extent of the microbial growth became clear.

A water intrusion test later identified the window as the source.
