Florida's Four Seasons!

Forget spring, summer, fall, and winter. Here in Southwest Florida, we have our own four seasons:

☀️ Summer – It's hot.

🥵 Almost Summer – Still hot, but there's a breeze.

🌴 Still Summer – The calendar says October, but the thermostat says July.

🎄 Christmas – We decorate palm trees, wear shorts to holiday parties, and hope for one day below 70°!

And through all four seasons, there's one thing we can count on... our air conditioning!

At Epic Air Conditioning, we know Florida weather doesn't follow the calendar, so we're here to keep you comfortable all year long.

Happy Columbus Day from Epic Air Conditioning!

Today is a day to reflect on history, exploration, and the many journeys that have shaped our world.

And speaking of journeys, whether you've called Southwest Florida home for decades or recently discovered our little slice of paradise, there's one thing we can all agree on...

Florida is a pretty great place to drop anchor!

Here in Southwest Florida, we know how quickly the weather can change. One minute it’s sunny, and the next the wind is blowing, lightning is flashing, and the rain is coming down sideways.
While you’re bringing in the patio furniture and checking your storm supplies, take a minute to think about your AC too.
A few storm tips from Epic Air Conditioning:
⚡ Watch for power flickers and surges. If your power repeatedly goes on and off, your HVAC system’s electrical components can be affected.
🌀 During severe hurricane conditions, consider turning the AC off. Turn it off at the thermostat and, if appropriate and safe, at the breaker.
🌴 Never go outside during the storm to check your unit. Your safety comes first.
🔍 After the storm, inspect the outdoor unit BEFORE restarting your AC. Look for branches, debris, standing water, or visible damage.
💧 If the unit has been flooded or submerged, leave it OFF. Don’t attempt to restart it until it has been professionally inspected.
⚠️ If the breaker trips, don’t repeatedly reset it. A breaker that continues to trip could indicate a problem that needs attention.
And one of our favorite Florida storm tips? Cool the house a few degrees before severe weather arrives. If you lose power, you’ll be glad you did!

They came home after being away for the summer...
The bags came through the door. The sunglasses came off. They were officially back in Southwest Florida and ready to settle in.
There was just one problem.
The house was HOT. 🥵
“No big deal,” they thought. “We’ve been gone for months. We’ll just turn down the thermostat.”
They set it to 72° and started unpacking.
An hour later...still warm.
Another hour...the AC was running, but the house wasn’t getting much cooler.
That’s when they realized something wasn’t quite right.
When a home has been sitting for months, a lot can happen. The filter may need changing, the drain line could have buildup, humidity may have become an issue, or the AC simply may not be performing the way it was when you left.
If you’re returning to Southwest Florida for the season, give your AC a little attention when you arrive. Check the filter, thermostat, and indoor temperature, and pay attention to unusual noises, smells, or moisture.

Around here, fall basically means summer...with pumpkins. 🎃🌴

A little hum is normal. But when your AC suddenly starts buzzing, banging, or squealing, it’s worth paying attention.

New or unusual noises can be your system’s way of warning you that something isn’t quite right. It could be an electrical issue, a loose component, a motor problem, or another part that needs attention.

And just like that strange noise your car makes, ignoring it usually doesn’t make it disappear. 😬

Catching an AC problem early could mean the difference between a smaller repair today and a much bigger headache later.

Be honest… how often are you REALLY changing your AC filter?

Every month?

Every three months?

Whenever you happen to remember?

Or are you reading this thinking, “Wait… when DID I change that thing?” 😂

Your air filter may be easy to forget, but it has a pretty important job. As your AC runs, the filter collects dust, pet hair, pollen and other particles before they can circulate through your system.

And here in Southwest Florida, our air conditioners get a workout.

When a filter gets too dirty, it can restrict airflow and make your AC work harder to keep your home comfortable. That can contribute to higher energy use, reduced comfort and unnecessary strain on your system.

How often you need to change it depends on the type of filter, your system, pets, allergies and how much your AC runs. Checking it about once a month is an easy habit to get into.
