When the grid goes down, the elevators can't.

Today our crew passed a generator / emergency-power inspection on one of our modernization projects. When a building loses power, its elevators have to recall and run safely on backup, so firefighters can do their job and passengers stay covered.

An elevator has to know exactly where it is, down to a fraction of an inch. 📍

Monday, a car we maintain in Miami was throwing position-sensor faults. Our tech cleaned the selector tape top to bottom, re-centered the sensor heads, adjusted the interlocks and tightened a loose cable.

Then he ran it for 30 straight minutes. Zero faults. Only then did it go back in service.

Careful detail work, then proof before leaving. Proud of this team. 👏

Anyone can reset a broken elevator. Finding the root cause of why it keeps shutting down is the real work. 🔧

This weekend, an elevator we maintain in Miami kept shutting down, and its rear doors were failing to open at different floors. Our technician didn’t just reset it and move on. He traced the door system end to end, found worn contacts on the door relays, and replaced both.

Then he took the initiative to fix the core issue. He adjusted the guide shoes, secured the car gib, lubricated the rails, and replaced improper hardware with the proper parts. He tested everything and returned the car to service.

We don’t just clear the fault. We own the call. 👏
