After winter wind damage near Carr, American Roofing and Restorations installed temporary roof protection in March 2026. The project later progressed to replacement of approximately half the roof with TAMKO StormFighter FLEX® Class 4 shingles.

The completed work followed the approved partial scope. Explaining which section would be replaced—and which would remain—was an important part of the project.

🏡 How do you replace a century-old tile roof without losing the character that made it special?

American Roofing and Restorations recently completed a unique roof replacement on a 100+ year-old family ranch near Livermore, Colorado.

According to the family’s project history, the original terracotta tile had been on the home since the early 1900s. After more than a century of exposure, photographs showed cracked and broken tiles, open joints, and significant deterioration around hips, ridges, and transitions.

The family wanted a modern roofing system, but they did not want to lose the warm color and high-barrel Spanish-tile appearance that had defined the home for generations.

We replaced the aging terracotta with Unified Steel® Barrel-Vault Tile in the Barcelona color. This stone-coated steel system recreates the dimensional appearance of traditional Spanish tile while using a lighter steel-based material.

The Barcelona finish preserves the warm terracotta tones and natural color variation of the original roof. From the air, the completed system complements the home’s architecture and creates a consistent appearance across its hips, valleys, chimney, and adjoining roof sections.

This project was about more than installing a new roof. It was about respecting the history of a family property while preparing it for Northern Colorado’s wind, hail, snow, strong sun, and rapid temperature changes.
