Concrete can be tricky. If it's too hot, too cold, too wet, or too dry, it isn't happy. We demo'd the crumbling concrete and swapped it out for a concrete paver coping. Up next, the hot tub renovation.

This is me ripping off the bandaid. You need a plan to build a proper space. Plain and simple. You don’t want to listen to me, call your mother. She will tell you the same thing.

It may be perfectly clear in your head, but we need to get it out of there and onto paper so we have something to bid and build from. That way everyone involved is on the same page.

Oh and P.S. you are going to have to share your budget too! 🫢🫣

Architect Henry Bacon modeled the Lincoln Memorial after the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. The memorial stands 99 ft. tall, 120 ft. wide, 190 ft. long, and is constructed with Colorado Yule Marble. Yule Marble is found in the Yule Creek Valley in the West Elk Mountains of Colorado.

Ground was broken in February of 1914 on the memorial. From the chamber of the memorial, one can appreciate the different stone used. The terrace walls and lower steps comprise granite blocks from Massachusetts the upper steps, outside facade, and columns contain marble from Colorado- the interior walls and columns are Indiana limestone- the floor is pink Tennessee marble- the ceiling tiles are Alabama marble- and the Lincoln statue comprises 28 pieces of Georgia marble. The materials were all chosen by Bacon to tell a very specific story. Marble is still mined up on the mountain today. The quarry also produced the marble for the Tomb of the Unknown in Washington D.C..
