🐿️ Listen… I’ve been getting a lot of attention lately.

Every day I sneak across Imperial Fence Company fences, sample a few tomatoes (quality control), and make sure the garden is up to my standards.

Here’s something you may not know…

🌪️ Today marks the first day of Hurricane Season.

If your fence is more than 10-15 years old, now is the time to take a close look at it.

Years of Houston heat, humidity, rain, and shifting soil can weaken posts, loosen fasteners, and reduce the strength of the wood—even when everything looks fine from the street. When tropical storms or hurricanes arrive, older fences are often the first thing to fail.

A properly built, well-maintained fence can withstand significant wind loads. Most newer fences don’t fail because of the wind itself—they fail when a tree, large branch, or other debris comes crashing down on them.

Take a few minutes this week to check for:
✔ Leaning sections
✔ Loose or rotting posts
✔ Warped pickets
✔ Soft wood near ground level
✔ Gates that no longer close properly

A little preventative maintenance today could save you from an emergency repair bill later.

When hurricanes and tropical storms move through the Houston area, fence repairs and replacements surge almost overnight. High demand can lead to longer wait times for contractors, limited installation schedules, and even temporary shortages of fencing materials. That means a damaged fence may not be repaired or replaced as quickly as you’d like—leaving your property without the privacy, security, or containment you depend on.
