Did you ever wonder what is inside your old water heater when the plumber hauls it away? Last week we had one so heavy and full of sediment that we had to cut it and empty out the gunk. This unit was installed for almost 40 years and was still heating. Definitely not as efficiently as it should be, but heating nonetheless. I would probably say, change them out a little sooner.
