𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗞𝗿𝗼𝗻

I recently made my fifth annual visit to our nation’s capital with the Minnesota Transportation Alliance, representing the Association of Women Contractors (AWC) and Minnesota’s small-business community.

This year, our advocacy focused on two critical issues:

• Reauthorizing the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program
• Combating the proposed astronomical increases to the SBA size standards, which would effectively eliminate the distinction of a true small business eligible to perform federal work in Minnesota

𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴, 99.1% 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘵𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘴 “𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴.” This would force genuinely small companies to compete against significantly larger firms for opportunities intended to support small businesses.

A little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone… right? 😂🏈 A huge thank you to Coordinated Business Systems for the invite to the Minnesota Vikings game!

It was a tough one for our resident Packers fans, Kendra and Barb, with the Vikings taking the win... but we have to give them credit… they wore their green and gold proudly surrounded by a whole lot of purple. 💚💛💜

Great game, great company, and only slightly more trash talk than usual. 😂

DALAC provides free legal services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, helping individuals and families navigate incredibly difficult circumstances and giving them access to legal support when they need it most.

Last week, Kendra with our InSite Contracting team was proud to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build!

They spent their day building and improving spaces throughout our communities, but opportunities like this mean something extra. Getting out in the field, working alongside other incredible women, and helping build a home for a local family is exactly the kind of impact we’re proud to be part of.
