"I just want my home rekeyed so all the doors have the same key." Should be a simple job...right?

Current locks, schlage, kwikset and Weiser, with old 1/12 inch bore holes. old steel doors set into poured concrete frames.

One of the things I love about my job is that it takes me to some absolutely gorgeous places and introduces me to local businesses that offer something truly special. Every once in a while, I get to stop and appreciate just how fortunate I am to do what I do.

Today’s spotlight: Redeemed Farm in Scandia, Minnesota.

If you’ve ever dreamed of a wedding with a little wine-country magic, this place is something special. Redeemed Farm offers a beautiful setting for wedding ceremonies and receptions, with the kind of charm and atmosphere that makes you stop for a moment and take it all in. It's no surprise they're booked years in advance!

Good thing I'm already married. 😂

I had the opportunity to help Jeff out with some lock repair and rekeying a few locks, and in the process, I got to enjoy another beautiful corner of Minnesota that I might not otherwise have discovered.

Whether you're planning a wedding, celebrating a milestone, or simply looking for a venue that offers something a little out of the ordinary, Redeemed Farm is worth putting on your list.

And when the locks, keys, or hardware need a little attention, that's where All Saints Lock & Key LLC comes in! From residential and commercial rekeying to lock repairs and automotive keys, I take pride in helping local businesses keep things secure so they can focus on what they do best.

It's a pretty great thing when a day's work lets you support a local business, put your skills to use, and enjoy a little wonder along the way.

Redeemed Farms for the memories. All Saints Lock & Key for the peace of mind.

🔐 Why the brand of your lock matters

At All Saints Lock & Key, I’m pretty particular about the hardware I install.

Over the years, I’ve seen plenty of substandard locks cause problems for homeowners and businesses. I’ve also seen customers spend more money on “premium” hardware without necessarily getting a better-performing lock.

More expensive doesn’t always mean better. Sometimes you’re paying for appearance, features, or refinement — and sometimes that’s worth it. Other times, a less expensive product is the smarter choice.

For residential work, Schlage and Kwikset are industry standards for a reason. They’re proven, widely supported, and parts and keys are readily available.

There are also quality economy brands and locksmith-specific products that can provide excellent performance without the premium price tag.

Some of the brands I regularly trust include:

Schlage • Kwikset • Master Lock • USCAN • Adams Rite • ASSA ABLOY • Kaba • Alarm Lock • GMS • Ilco

The right lock depends on the door, application, security needs, and budget.

My goal isn’t to sell you the most expensive lock. It’s to recommend the right lock.

That’s the difference experience makes.

From time to time, I like to share information about local businesses I come across. I especially like supporting the new businesses, the “mom and pops,” and the small businesses that help make our community OUR community.

HERE’S ONE.

As we get deeper into October, it’s time to start thinking about Minnesota weather—and more importantly, Minnesota winter driving. ❄️

The All Saints Transit van is rear-wheel drive, which means apparently its winter driving strategy is “hope for the best.”

My neighbor to the east (Forest Lake, MN) recently opened his own automotive shop, Nick’s Tire & Auto, and I was able to get four new snow tires from him. He even tracked down a set of stock rims, making the seasonal tire swap a whole lot easier.

So the All Saints Transit is officially getting ready for winter. In another week or two, these babies will be going on.

If you’re looking for a local shop for tires or automotive work, give Nick’s Tire & Auto a look. Supporting small local businesses is one of the best ways we can keep our community strong.

And if you see the All Saints van out this winter, don’t worry—I’m not lost. I’m just testing the limits of rear-wheel drive. 😉

These two knuckleheads have gotten so big that it's hard to take them on jobs anymore but occasionally they talked me into it

So AI is changing every business, it helps me set prices, gauge equipment purchases and upgrades, and has been known to correct the spelling and punctuation of my facebook posts, today I asked AI to roast me... Harsh!

You're a retired police lieutenant, locksmith, business owner, mechanic-by-proxy, boat owner, hobby farmer, truck shopper, van engineer, Facebook comedian, and unofficial procurement department...
and somehow your biggest enemy remains making a decision.

You don't suffer from analysis paralysis.
You suffer from analysis ALS.
You analyze a decision until the decision needs a locksmith.

And if you ever finally make a purchase without asking me to research it first, I'll assume someone stole your identity.

10/10 would absolutely call All Saints Lock & Key.

Assuming, of course, you haven't raised the price by $17 since we last talked

Where did the name All Saints Lock & Key come from?

I get this question several times a week from customers, so here’s the short version!

First, my last name is St. George. In Minnesota, and in other areas with a strong French influence, you’ll find quite a few “Saint” surnames.

But there’s a second meaning behind it. I was raised Catholic and spent 12 years — 13 if you count kindergarten — in Catholic school. So the name has a little personal history behind it, too.

And then there’s the third meaning…

I grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and I’ve always joked that I’ll go just about anywhere in the state for a job:

St. Paul to St. Peter.
St. Cloud to St. Bonifacius.

Apparently, I was destined to become a locksmith with a thing for “Saints.” 😂

So there you have it — All Saints Lock & Key.

A little family name, a little Catholic upbringing, a little Minnesota geography… and a whole lot of keys.

The more you know!

Also St Baldomerus is one of the patron saints of locksmiths
