An unusual smell is not something to cover up and carry on with.

A brief dusty smell may occur when heating starts after months of disuse. Persistent burning smells or unusual odors that keep returning deserve professional attention.

If a burning smell persists without smoke or signs of fire, turn the system off only if it is safe to do so and contact us for an inspection.

If you see smoke or suspect a fire, leave the home and call 911 from outside. Do not stay inside to troubleshoot.

Before changing the settings again, check what the thermostat is actually reading.

Our calibration check compares the thermostat’s room temperature reading with a reference instrument, reviews thermostat response, and documents the result.

A small difference alone does not confirm a fault. Thermostats and reference thermometers can sense and display temperature differently, so readings need to be interpreted in context rather than judged by a single number.

A cloud above your heat pump does not automatically mean a breakdown.

During a normal defrost cycle, your outdoor unit may release visible water v***r as it clears frost from the coil. That temporary v***r can be part of normal operation, with heating resuming after the cycle finishes.

The important distinction is whether your system returns to normal. V***r during defrost is different from smoke, and a system that does not recover deserves professional attention.

Closing a bedroom door changes more than privacy. It can also change the path air takes through your home.

Your HVAC system supplies conditioned air to rooms and also needs a path for air to return. When interior doors are closed, return air may need to move through dedicated returns, transfer pathways, or gaps designed into the home.

If certain rooms become noticeably warmer, cooler, or less comfortable when doors are closed, airflow is one area worth reviewing.
