Home ownership is still the best investment you can make. No matter the ups and downs of the market it will pay in the end to own versus rent. As long as buyers keep reasonable ratios between income and payments they will never get hurt. They can ride out a lull in home values. Historically home values always appreciated and they will again. Hopefully no one is foolish enough to take on a loan with terms that can't be maintained as happened in many metro areas before the crash. Our lenders had better sense here in the mid-west, but we still paid the price with everyone else.

Wow... interest rates are still at an all time low. Payments on a $100,000. loan right now are as low as 428.00 a month on a 30 year loan. I remember the days when we said figure 10 bucks per thousand borrowed for principle and interest. Quite a difference!
